What is a mistake anyway? Mother nature will move on regardless of what happens..

Well it refers to the mistakes made by man that lead to the vanquishing of that bloodline. Mother nature moves on you got that right.

Yes it does, when you think about it humans do make a working model of nature adapting to all kinds of situations in a rapid succession. (not overnight but humans are one of the fastest)

The problem is the endurence if by a lick and a prayer a single one survived there you go but it would be difficult. My sister showed me a very amusing comic about a scenorio like this.

and I can continue on but I don't think you want to hear my evidence or reasons. I have a bad habit of doing that just going off on a tangent that people already know about.

I love John Dyer Baizley's stuff, so I totally get how inspiring he is, but this is so similar, with the same imagery of the bees and women etc... perhaps you can push it a step further and add more of yourself to make it even more interesting.
In any case, you are very talented! I love the colours in this.

I'm certainly inspired by Baizley. Problem for me is if you look through my other work you'll see I like painting women. So I don't think that's going to go away. I agree though that having an original vision is important in art. I'm trying to push those boundaries. I've only been doing the ink/watercolor album thing for a couple years now. With each new drawing I push further. Thank you for your comment.

very nice! i dont know why or how, but your work seems to be stylistically similar to the album art on the Baroness records... any hints?

:iconchrispanatier:
ChrisPanatier Featured By Owner Dec 11, 2012
You are correct. My work is inspired by John Baizley who is Baroness' lead singer and a brilliant artist. He'll always be a step ahead. I have no idea how he got so good. But I'm doing my best!

I haven't heard Baroness, will get around to it soon. But I'm a huge Mastodon fan; love their album art as well, especially from Crack the Skye and Leviathan. Keep up the great work!

Oh hell yeah. Mastodon's work has primarily been done by Paul Romano.

Now that we're discussing album art, any ideas why the album art on Opeth's Heritage is similar to Mastodon's Leviathan in many ways? Both have a central object (tree, the whale), they have an above the surface part of the scene and a below the surface part, and both have a certain symmetry about the vertical axis. see what i mean?

:iconchrispanatier:
ChrisPanatier Featured By Owner Dec 11, 2012
Oh I've definitely noticed that but I haven't gotten into Opeth's new stuff that much. They've gone really mellow--not necessarily a bad thing, just not my thing. So I haven't had a chance to delve in. Mastodon's Leviathan imagery is pretty straightforward.
